About our surf lessons
At Blue Barrel Surf School our surf lessons are all about you. Your vibe, your pace, your goals. Our mission is to spread the joy of surfing and show people like yourself why it is so fun. We understand everyone wants something different out of their surf lesson and not everyone learns at the same tempo. Whether its building up your confidence in the white water, working on mobility and developing your pop up or even exploring unbroken waves and the introduction of turns. You will receive professional guidance in a relaxed and supportive setting turning each session into a memorable and rewarding experience.
By offering private surf lessons we can really focus on what you want out of each session. Working with small groups allows our instructors to spend more time and attention fulfilling your surf goals. Private surf lessons are great for those looking for a more intimate surf lesson experience and to speed up within their progression timeline.
As we only offer private surf lessons each lesson is unique however this as an example of what you can expect the following from your session.

Our surf lessons are 2 hours long in duration. Please note some locations may require a short walk in which case the session timings may be slightly longer. We will notify you if this is the case.

No wetsuit or surfboard? We’ve got you covered. Included in your lesson is use of our high quality wetsuits and accessories. Our quality wetsuits are guaranteed to keep you toasty during your session. We also have a wide selection surfboards for you to use whatever your ability free of charge.
Locations and Timings
We can operate from several beaches on the north and south coast of Cornwall. When submitting your booking please select your preferred location, we will only suggest a location change if the conditions become unfavourable. If you are unsure on which location to choose we are always on hand to provide advice on picking the best surf spot. Once we have received your surf lesson enquiry we will be in touch to confirm your booking and be able to provide advice on parking and any nearby facilities which may be of interest.
We are open all year round for bookings, during our winter season (Nov - March) we offer 10AM and 1PM availability.
Our summer season (April - October) we offer 10AM, 1PM and 4PM lessons. We can also offer a sunset session which can be organised throughout our summer season.
